Robert Franklin Taylor, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Madeline Shaver Taylor, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at his home. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 a.m. followed by committal at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Bob was born September 2, 1934 in Newport News, Virginia, son of the late Robert S. Taylor and the late Myrtle Bryant Taylor. He was a Korean War Era veteran of the United States Navy, and had a career of more than 30 years as an electronics specialist with the US Government. He enjoyed birdwatching, traveling, and reading science fiction. Bob was proud to be a member of the Exchange Club of Charleston, and always enjoyed serving at the Coastal Carolina Fair and traveling to the National Exchange Club Convention.
In addition to Madeline, his wife of 60 years, Bob is survived by two sons, George R. Taylor of Mount Pleasant, and Allan S. Taylor (Vickie) of Manassas, VA; four grandchildren, Meredith Mersberger (Daniel), Benjamin Taylor, Christian Taylor, and Alexander Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Ariana Mersberger and Gavin Mersberger, all of Virginia. Bob was also a loving brother-in-law and uncle, and was a true gentleman to everyone he met.
