Robert "Bob" David Sojourner, Sr.

Robert David Sojourner, Sr. “Bob”, 79, of Charleston entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2023 at his home.
 
Bob was born in Savannah, Georgia to the late Robert Edward Sojourner and the late Minnie Baston Ehrhardt Sojourner. 
 
He attended St. Andrews Parish High School and graduated from Palmer College. Bob spent the majority of his working life as a cost analyst for the Robert Bosch Corporation. Bob was with Robert Bosch for more than thirty years before retiring in 2006. 

In addition to working hard at Bosch, Bob was an active member of the Optimist Club for more than 50 years. Giving back to his community and investing in the future of children was something he felt strongly about.  Bob also volunteered for many years at the MUSC Children’s Hospital. He would dress up like Frosty the Snowman and the Easter Bunny.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Paulette Likes Sojourner; their two children, Robert “David” Sojourner, Jr. (Christina) and Katherine Marie Sojourner; his brother Frederick Edward Sojourner (Caroline); three grandchildren, Kaitlin Sojourner, Walker Sojourner, and Julianna Sojourner; and one great-grandson, Jackson Rhett Davis. 

Everyone that knew Bob knew that he was a man of faith. He was a long time member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on church council. After his faith, the most important thing to Bob was his family. He adored his wife, Paulette, and he was actively involved in both of his children’s school functions including being a parent volunteer for the Middleton High School band. There was nothing that lit up Bob’s face more than seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchild.  

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 12, 2023 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive Charleston. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
