Robert Allen Shaffer

Robert Allen Shaffer, 83, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Shirley Thayer Belk Shaffer, entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 16, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 20, 2016, in First Baptist Church of North Charleston, 4217 Rivers Avenue, at 12:00 noon. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. North Area Chapel.

Robert was born October 28, 1932 in Grove City, Pennsylvania, son of the late Maurice Shaffer and Alma Dooley Shaffer. He honorably served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 21 years. He was a Chief Deputy Clerk with the Charleston County Courthouse for 17 years. Robert was an active member of the Lions Club and the First Baptist Church of North Charleston.

He is survived by his two daughters: Penny Lynn Johnson and Linda Shaffer; two brothers: Ken Shaffer and Richard Shaffer; and special friend, Opal S. Jay.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Shirley, he was predeceased by eight siblings.
