Robert Lowry Rhame, Jr. was born December 21, 1943 in Camden, South Carolina to the late Robert Lowry Rhame, Sr. and the late Wilma Miller Sill Rhame, both of Camden. Bob was a resident of Charleston, SC at the time of his death. He died of CHF at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center Friday, December 7, 2012.
Bob served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1966 with the 765th security platoon in Vung Tau as a Military Police officer. He worked as a corrugated engineer throughout the Midwest, where he raised his two daughters, Moriah and Marnie. After retirement, he spent his afternoons at the College Corner Grocery store in Charleston telling jokes and stories as he was blessed with a gift for making people laugh.
He is survived by his daughters, Moriah Feuerhelm (Chad) of Galena, IL and Marnie Levens (Robin) of New Cumberland, PA; his sister, Judy Ford (Max) of Camden, SC; and six grandchildren who will miss him terribly, McKenzie, Dalton, Mitchell, Delanie, Jack and Phoebe. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Michael Rhame. His dear friend, Banks Smith, of Charleston, was by his side at his death. He leaves behind special friends, Imad Mohatassem, Abdulla Aarroub, Jackie Teed, Denise Breyer and Elaine Rutledge.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside funeral service in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC, Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 1:00 pm.
