Entered into eternal rest on the morning of March 14, 2012, Robert Aldine Nettles, widower of Annie Lu Robbins Nettles. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in Citadel Square Baptist Church Chapel, Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mr. Nettles was born July 31, 1927 in Blackshear, GA, the son of Heber Earl Nettles and Stella Davis Nettles. He was a graduate of High School of Charleston and Brooks Institute of Photography in California. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, sunday school teacher and a member of the adult choir. Mr. Nettles retired from the Post and Courier Newspaper as Chief Photographer. He was a member of Charleston Elks Lodge #242.
He is survived by three sons: Robert A. Nettles, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Bradley R. Nettles (Marijo) of Charleston, SC and Gordon C. Nettles (Andee) of Little River, SC; his grandson Brad and his wife Amanda Lee and his granddaughter Amanda; one sister: Ann N. Smith of Charleston, SC. He is predeceased by his son, Blicker E. Nettles.
