Robert Kenneth Morris, 82, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Virginia Ellis Morris, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Hospice of Charleston. The relatives and friends of Bob are invited to attend his memorial service, Saturday, February 15, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 4:00 pm. Inurnment will be at a later date in Blue Ridge Gardens, Pisgah, North Carolina.
Bob was born January 4, 1932 in Brevard, North Carolina, son of the late William Clyde Morris and the late Arletta Bryson Morris. A 1954 graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bob earned a B. S. degree in Business Administration and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. From 1954-56, he served in the U. S. Army stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC. In 1956, Bob, "R.K.", joined IBM in Atlanta as a sales trainee and during the 40 year span of Bob's IBM career he served as a Branch Manager and Senior Corporate Executive for the Data Processing Division in Columbia, SC, Richmond, Va. and Tallahassee, Fla. In 1985, Bob moved to Raleigh, NC to become IBM's first Services Center Manager where he created and implemented the model to serve the company's North American sales and services teams. Upon retirement from IBM in 1995, Bob worked with Osprey Systems until 1998. He then left to form his own companies, Information Technology Consulting, Inc. and VLKM-George Street Investment, LLC. Bob was actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations to include Kiwanis and Rotary International.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of 59 years; his two daughters, Leslie M. Fellabom and her husband, Edgar E. Fellabom, III,(Tripp), of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Kelly Morris Tyree and her husband, William Keith Tyree, (Bill) of Scottsdale, Az; his grandson, Robert Andrew Fellabom(Andrew), and his fiancée Camila Marquez of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughter, Madeline Alexandra Fellabom, of Clemson, SC and grandson, Kenneth Ryan Tyree, (Ryan) of Scottsdale, Az; his nephew, William, C. Morris, III, (Will) of Brevard, NC and his niece Rebecca M. Pullease, (Becca) of Asheville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, and with respect to Bob's life-long love for his alma mater, his family requests memorials be made to UNC-Chapel Hill for Scholarships and Student Aid, Campus Box 6100, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-6100 or charity of choice.
