Robert Arthur Mitchell, 83, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Doris Hughes died Thursday, December 8, 2016. His Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 10:00 until time of the service.

Robert was born September 8, 1933 in Union, South Carolina, son of the late William Arthur Mitchell and the late Elsie Owens Mitchell. He served in the United States Navy and worked as an Electrical Engineer. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Elks Lodge, and loved animals.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Hughes of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Debbie Kirst of Stafford, VA and Deanna Galasso (Lawrence) of Mount Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Bobby Kirst (Jessica) of Stafford, VA, Brian Kirst (Krystal) of Falls Church, VA and Andy Kirst of Charleston, SC and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Mitchell and a son-in-law, Todd Kirst.
