Robert "Bob" Edward Miller, 86, husband of Constance Clara Gabis Miller of Mount Pleasant, SC passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011. The relatives and friends of Robert "Bob" Miller are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL AT 2:00 pm. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Bob was born on October 1, 1925 in Marietta, Ohio, son of the late John Franklin Miller and Cora Fish Miller. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the Destroyer Escort the USS O'Flaherty while in the South Pacific. Bob was a Poll Manager for Charleston County Voter Registration, and a member and usher for Christ Our King Catholic Church. He was known as "The guy that all the neighbors talked to." To those that never had the pleasure of knowing him, they realized quickly that Bob never met a stranger. He always found the good in everyone and they were not strangers, but friends when the encounter was over. Bob was also a world class tinkerer and always helped those who needed help.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Constance Miller; son David Miller and his wife, Sherry; son-in-law, Michael Johnson; two grandsons, Bobby Rogers and Nick Johnson; and seven great grandchildren all of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Johnson in 2009.
