Robert Glennan "Glenn" Massalon, 80, of Charleston, SC, husband of Elizabeth "Libby" Massalon entered into eternal rest at home after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014, in Pinecrest Baptist Church on Ashley Hall Road, at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in J.HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Glenn was born July 23, 1934 in Branchville, SC, and is the son of the late Robert Lee Massalon and Louise Thompson Massalon. Glenn served in the National Guard and then served 20 years in the US Navy as an Electronic Technician, serving aboard several Air Craft Carriers and minesweepers. After retiring he went to the Naval Ship Yard in the Electronic shop and retired again. He also worked at Roper Hospital, City Electrical Department, Seabrook Island Golf, and Briar Creek Golf Course. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Massalon; two sons, Robert "Bobby" Massalon, Jr., (Myra), James David Massalon (Shelley), two daughters, Diane Elizabeth Bolick (Aaron), Cindy M. Cooper ( Rusty); six grandchildren, Bryan Bolick (Rose), Matthew Bolick ( Jenna), Russell Cooper, Heather Cooper, Courtney Cooper (Randy), and Jackson Massalon; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Rosell, Ryan Kasten, Camryn Kasten, Step-great-grandchild, Ryan Carter, and also an adopted granddaughter, Michele Wilson and adopted great-granddaughter Bella; one brother, David "Tommy" Massalon (Pat).
