Robert Joseph Lewis

Robert J. "Sonny" Lewis, Jr., 84, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Margaret "Peggy" Doffin Lewis died Friday, September 30, 2016. His funeral service will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Sonny was born April 26, 1932 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Robert Joseph Lewis and the late Orie Guerry Lewis. He was an USAF veteran and former Mason. He was the owner and operator of Lewis Autobody Shop and later worked for a car rental company. Sonny was a member of Wando Woods Baptist Church, enjoyed boating and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy; children: Robert L. Lewis (Ramona), Jerry Lewis (Sharon), Debbie Merryman (David) all of TX and Lisa A. Garner of North Charleston; and sister: Trudell Linder of Ladson, SC; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Garner.
