Robert "Bob" Lebby, Jr., age 92, died quietly in his sleep on April 10, 2026 at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, South Carolina. Despite suffering from dementia in his later years, he consistently maintained his faith in Jesus Christ and kept a cheerful outlook every day. We were blessed by the fact that he always recognized everyone who came to visit.

Bob was born in Orangeburg, SC on January 7, 1934 to Robert Lebby, Sr. and Mamie DeMars Lebby. He spent the majority of his time growing up on James Island, a coastal community in Charleston, SC. He served honorably in the Air Force during the Korean War as a Medical and Surgical Specialist. His family life after the military began with a marriage to Doris Mincey which produced three children - Robbie, Sharon, and Stephen. A few months prior to his first child, he began working for Delta Airlines at the Charleston Airport and during this time he also served two terms on the Hanahan City Council. Bob also actively served his church of many years, Highland Park Baptist. In addition, he was a Mason, a Shriner, and a deacon at HPBC.

A few years after divorce, he married Sylvia Graham, his wife of 45 years until her passing in late 2021. After a number of years in Charleston, he and Sylvia transferred with Delta to Atlanta where he worked as an International Ticketing Agent in the world’s busiest airport. He retired from Delta after 37 years. After retirement, he and Sylvia returned home to Charleston, living in Hanahan. Bob loved fishing of all kinds, especially surf fishing in the shadow of the Morris Island Lighthouse. He knitted his own cast nets which he used to catch shrimp in the back creeks of the coast (although he would not eat them!). He would also make cast nets for anyone that wanted one - for free. Bob enjoyed traveling on Delta around the United States including California, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and England. He liked spending time relaxing by the pool and the ocean in Ormond Beach, Florida, gospel music, camping, and occasionally catching an Atlanta Braves game. He especially enjoyed ice cream, good old Southern sweet tea, and Krispy Kreme donuts. It was a rare occasion to find him without any one of the three in his hand.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mamie, his sister, Mary Ellen Inman, and his stepdaughter and her husband, Becky and Leonard Capeloto. He is survived by his son, Rob Lebby, of Knoxville, TN, Sharon Jones (Chuck) of North Charleston, and Steve Lebby (Annette) of Powhatan, VA, his stepchildren, Randy Graham (Leigh) of Tallahassee, FL, Rusty Graham (Brenda) of Charlottesville, VA, and Sandy Houser (Claude) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Nicholas Lebby (Lindsay) of North Augusta, SC, Jason Jones (Jessica) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jenni Jones of North Charleston, Brian Lebby (Angela) of Utah (Air Force), Kevin Lebby of Knoxville, TN, Allyson and Andrea Lebby (Wisconsin); Taylor Graham, James Graham, Melissa Montevideo May, Jordan Capeloto, Cody Capeloto, Chelsea Graham, Bradley Houser, and Kyle Houser. He also had 9 great-grandchildren.

His Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Highland Park Baptist Church, 6211 Murray Drive at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in Highland Park Baptist Church. Inurnment will be held privately.

Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
