Robert Anthony Kriza, 79, of Daniel Island, South Carolina, beloved husband of 59 years to Carol Louise Kriza, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Robert was born on May 7, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Raymond D. and Thelma R. Kriza. He spent most of his life in Maple Shade, New Jersey. He graduated from Merchantville High School, where he met the love of his life, Carol. After their marriage, Robert proudly served in the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Knox, he excelled as a member of the Army’s basketball and baseball teams.
After his military service, Robert and Carol returned to Maple Shade, where he completed his apprenticeship and began a long and rewarding career as a union carpenter. They raised their three children there before retiring to Daniel Island, South Carolina. Robert’s skills and creativity extended beyond his career—he was always ready to take on construction projects, home improvements, or lend a helping hand to family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, boating, and had a lifelong passion for sports. A beloved coach, he especially cherished the years spent leading his son’s baseball teams and later watching with pride as his children and grandchildren pursued their own sports. Robert will be remembered for his sense of humor, athleticism, and unwavering devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Daniel Island; their children, Karen DeVries and Robert Kriza, Jr. of Daniel Island, and Robin Meihaus (George) of Mount Pleasant; his treasured grandchildren, Daniel, Drew, Kate, Ryan, Ben, and Gwen; and his sister, Diane Weiss of Vero Beach, Florida, along with seven nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Kriza.
