Robert "Tony" Marion Gehlken

Robert "Tony" Marion Gehlken, 87, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 7, 2022. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at Coastal Light Baptist Church, 2543 Ashley River Road at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Tony was born November 18, 1934 in Charleston, SC, to the late Walter Richard Christopher Gehlken and the late Annie Prine Gehlken. After playing football at The Citadel, he married Mary Jo Gruber, his beloved wife of 66 years. His beautiful voice brought joy to many. Tony will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Bobby (Nancy) Gehlken, Beth (Ronnie) Albee, Kevin (Elizabeth) Gehlken, Michael Gehlken, and David (Lisa) Gehlken, all of Charleston, SC; his 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald (Carole) Gehlken; his sister, Barbara Deas; and many nieces and nephews.
