Robert Oscar Dunham, 81 of James Island died Friday, November 11, 2011.
He was born in Charleston, the son of the late Alonzo C. Dunham and Jessie Williams Dunham, the widower of Dorothy Claire Dunham.
He was born September 4, 1930 in Charleston. He graduated from Charleston High, attended the College of Charleston and The Citadel. He married the love of his life, Claire and was married 55 years until her death in 2005. He served in The Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated the ESSO Station on Savannah Hwy. He worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller and retired in 1982 with 25 years of service. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church on James Island. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was loved by family and friends and will truly be missed.
He is survived by son, Alan Paul Dunham (Paulette), son, William Christopher Dunham (Terri), daughter, Lisa Claire Kluczinsky and son Brien Timothy Dunham, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Robert Dunham, grandson, Paul Eugene Dunham and son-in-law, Michael Franklin Kluczinsky.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Dunham will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 1 pm. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, Monday from 6 pm until 8 pm.
