Robert Edward Diehl, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of the late Marion Ann Bitter Diehl passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013. The relatives and friends of Robert Diehl are invited to attend a Celebration of His Life on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 3:00 pm. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will greet friends at the funeral chapel from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2013.
Robert was born October 11, 1917 in Bethesda, Maryland, son of the late Robert and Rosa Diehl. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was present during the Normandy Invasion. During his service, he received the Distinguished Unit Badge and the European-African-Middle-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW and was retired from the Pentagon as an electrician.
He is survived by his sister, Ann Beckley of Fairbanks, AK and three nephews, Chuck, Ned, and Ted Diehl. He is also survived by his dear friends, Kathy Britzius and family and Charlene Mann and family who helped him for many years. The family and friends would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and staff of Sandpiper Rehab and Nursing Center.
