Entered into eternal rest on Monday evening, November 28, 2011, SSgt. Robert William Callahan, Jr., USAF (Retired), husband of Denise Norton Callahan. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Callahan, Jr. are invited to attend his funeral services Friday, December 2, 2011 in Ashley River Baptist Church at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Thursday between 5 and 7 pm.
Born on December 28, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, Robert is a son of the late Robert W. Callahan and the late Nadeen Blocker Callahan. Robert was a retired United States Air Force Staff Sergeant and was also a retired Waste Water Management Supervisor with Amoco Chemical. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and a member of the SC Salt Water Sportfishing Association.
In addition to his wife Denise Norton Callahan of 23 years, he is survived by his four daughters, Dawn Callahan Haigler of Charleston, Wendy Callahan of Atlanta, GA, Amanda Hambrook of Greer, SC, Carlie Murray of Goose Creek; a son, Marcus Chavis of Charleston; a sister, Eileen Graham of Charleston, two brothers, Richard Callahan of Summerville, David Callahan of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Zakary Haigler, Jacob Robert Haigler, Matthew Haigler, Sydney Schmidt, Katelyn Chavis, Haley Hambrook, Ellie Hambrook; and many nieces and nephews.
