Robert Ackerman Burbage

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 14, 2011. Robert Ackerman Burbage, husband of Doris Carter Burbage. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ackerman Burbage are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Grace United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Wednesday between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.

Mr. Burbage was born May 20, 1923 in New Hope, SC, the son of George Matthew Burbage and Tressa Singletary Burbage. He was a member of Grace United Methodist and served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Burbage retired as owner and operator of Burbage's Self Service Grocery.

He is survived by his wife, of Charleston, SC; sons, Robert Alvin (Al) Burbage (Myrtice) and Robert Ronald Matthew (Matt) all of Charleston, SC; daughter, Doris Marie Burbage of Charleston, SC; one grandson: Benjamin Matthew Burbage; four step-great grandchildren: Preston, Gunner, Dixie Bell and Bryer; one step grandson: Shawn Wyndham; two adopted grandchildren: Kenneth Reichle and Scott Reichle. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beatrice Lynn Burbage.
