Robert Allen Boudet, MD, PhD, 76, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Wilma Boudet passed away Friday, March 15, 2013. A Celebration of His Life will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Chapel at Seacoast Community Church, 750 Long Point Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Seacoast Community Church. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Dr. Boudet was born June 9, 1936 in Sebring, Florida, the son of the late Marcel and Aileen Woods Boudet. He was a General Surgeon and served as the Chief of Staff at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital in Charleston. He served as an Assistant Professor at MUSC, and was previously the Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at the Kansas City, Missouri VA Hospital. Dr. Boudet was also a practicing surgeon at University of Kansas Medical Center. He received his surgical accreditation from the Medical College of Georgia, and was a member of the American College of Surgeons. He obtained his PhD in Microbiology at the Medical College of Georgia, having received his Medical Degree from the Florida University in Gainesville, FL. He graduated from Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, FL. He was an Army Captain stationed at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He attended Knox Theological Seminary in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, served on the medical staff for the Master's Tournament, and attended Seacoast Community Church. He loved to golf and read, especially in the areas of theology and history. He was an excellent French cook and was fluent in French.
Dr. Boudet was a great man of faith, which he shared with everyone he encountered. Throughout his lengthy illness, he trusted his God and never questioned God's plan for his life. Dr. Boudet believed in treating the entire person, spiritually and physically.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Boudet of Mount Pleasant, SC; his children, Michelle Boudet of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Marcel (Debbi) Boudet of Suffolk, VA, Allen (Rita) Boudet of Claxton, GA, Michael Boudet of Seattle, WA, Berto (Kim) Boudet of Cumming, GA, David Rankin of Winston-Salem, NC, and Marcus Rankin of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren, Lahana Rankin, Malique Rankin, Leia Boudet, Brenden Boudet, Hudson Boudet, Sabrina Smith, Pam Boudet, Kathleen Boudet-Diaz, Adam Boudet, Ashlyn Rivas, Sarah Boudet, Caroline Boudet, Andrew Boudet; his five great-grandchildren; and his aunt, Fran Henry of Lakeland, FL.
Dr. Boudet was deeply loved by all those who knew and encountered him. He will be greatly missed.
