Robert "Bobby" E. Baxter III, 74, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Christine T. Baxter entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 15, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive at 1:30 p.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Bobby was born March 24, 1943 in Knoxville, Tennessee, son of the late Robert E. Baxter, Jr. and Helen Atchley Baxter. He was a founding member of the Pi Sigma Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at Wilmington College. In 1975, Bobby started his own business, R. E. Baxter and Associates, Inc. At that time, this was one of two fee based financial service businesses in Charleston, SC. Bobby taught and developed continuing education programs sponsored by Charleston Life Underwriters for Life Insurance Agents, CPA's and Attorneys. He was a faithful and active member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He was a past president of the Charleston Estate Planning Counsel, past member of the Wilmington, NC Jaycees, a charter member of the Kiawanis Club of New Bern, NC and charter member of the West Ashley James Island Business Association (WAJIBA). Bobby was a past member of the Sertoma Club of Charleston where he worked the Sertoma Classic and a member of the West Ashley Rotary Club where he was responsible for the Literacy Program and participated in the Dictionary Project, providing dictionaries to all St. Andrews Elementary School third graders. He was responsible for the Rotary Readers Program at Stono Park Elementary School and was instrumental in the Children's Water Safety Program, teaching four and five year olds about water safety. For over 25 years, Bobby was a member of the Blue Lodge AFM in New Bern, NC, the Scottish Rite in Charleston, and the Omar Shrine Temple in Charleston. He was a recipient of KCCH, a Paul Harris Fellow and Rotarian of the Year. He was an active member of the Financial Services Professionals for 35 years, the Million Dollar Round Table for 25 years and the Charleston Yacht Club for 39 years.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Christine; two sons, Robert Lee Baxter IV (Kristi) of Newfields, NH and Bryan Frederick Baxter of Charleston, SC; daughter, Christine Baxter Brown (Tim) of Austin, TX; five grandchildren: Charles Frederick Baxter, Julia Wells Baxter, Benjamin Douglas Baxter, Wesley Lee Hopkins, and Harper Christine Brown; and brother, Roy Ayers Baxter (Josie) of Boise, ID.
