Robert Lee Bean

Robert "Bob" Lee Bean, Jr., 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Carolyn Clarke Bean entered into eternal rest Monday, August 13, 2018. His Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Charleston Presbyterian Church, 1405 Miles Drive (across from Charles Towne Landing) at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the adjacent Family Life Center. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Bob was born May 30, 1935 in Marietta, Georgia, son of the late Robert Lee Bean and Katherine Abbott Bean. An Eagle Scout who served in the U.S. Navy, Bob graduated from Presbyterian College in 1960 where he had served as yearbook editor, was an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and received PC's Gold P award. On his career path and through 57 years of marriage, Bob took his family from Memphis to Berea, Ohio to St. Albans, WV to Columbia SC, finally settling for the past 40 years in Charleston. In addition to his work as a professional Executive Recruiter, Bob will be best remembered for his many years of active leadership in scouting - serving as Scoutmaster to Troop 79, Wood Badge course director, Philmont participant, leader of 3 Jamboree council contingents and recipient of the Silver Beaver award. In his later years, Bob was a founding member of Charleston Presbyterian Church where he served as Clerk of Session. Bob was backyard bird watcher, who loved photography and woodcarving.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; two daughters: Janet Lynn Bean of Seneca, SC and Judith Bean Slack (Matt) of Williamsburg, VA; and grandchildren: Parker, Caroline and Emily Slack. Bob was predeceased by his sister, Kathy Bean Warren. He is survived by numerous cousins and friends in Marietta GA
Special thanks to the infusion staff of CHOA for their kind care during chemotherapy. Special thanks to the home care providers from both Crescent Hospice and Home Care Assistance during the final stages of Bob's illness.
