Robert Laney Arms, Jr., of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Charleston, SC, passed away on the morning of March 19, 2012. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the cryptside in Magnolia Cemetery Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Arms was born September 25, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, SC, the son of Robert Laney Arms, Sr. and Bertha Laboria Cacioppo. He grew up with an older sister Agnes and a younger brother Edward.
He and his family enjoyed summers in Hendersonville, NC, visiting with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bob worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Charleston, SC, until his retirement. He also worked in the antiques business in Charleston, SC and was a co-owner of The Cobblestone Shop. Before moving permanently to Hendersonville, NC, Bob lived in a beautiful home on Society Street in Charleston, where he displayed many of the antiques he collected.
He was a devoted son, a generous brother, a loving uncle and a friend to all he met. Bob was a cat lover his entire life and cats found him wherever he lived.
He was a lifetime member of Hibben United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
He is survived by a niece Barbara Crosby and two nephews Robert and Joseph Belknap.
