Robert Allan Akin

Robert Allan Akin, 72, husband of Maureen A. R. Akin, of Goose Creek, SC, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011, in a local hospital. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. George's Episcopal Church, 9110 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC.  Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.  The family will greet friends at the church following the service.

Born July 25, 1938 in Orlando, FL, he was the son of Eva Marjorie Bell Akin, and the late William Baker Akin.  SMSgt. Robert A. Akin was a US Air Force Veteran, attended UNC - Chapel Hill and was a member of the Order of Amaranth - Masonic Lodge in Raleigh, NC.

SMSgt. Akin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maureen R. Akin of Goose Creek, SC; his mother, Eva B. Akin of Midlothian, VA; his daughters:  Caren Akin of Charlotte, NC, Roberta Akin Pate of Clarksville, GA and Laura Akin of Scotland; his brother, William Baker Akin, Jr. of Chesterfield, VA; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Akin Lynn of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Emilie Akin of Charlotte, NC and Cameron Creech of Clarksville, GA.

The family requests memorials be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 9110 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC  29485.
