Robert Luther Adams, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. His graveside funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 10:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Robert was born January 19, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Norman W. Adams and Hazel Workman Adams. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years and was a drill instructor stationed at Parris Island. Following his career in the military, he was an owner and operator of Sun Heating and Air and sold real estate as a hobby on the side. He was a lifelong Lutheran, as well as a member of the American Legion and the United States Marine Corps Drill Instructors Association. Robert was a devoted family man spending time helping raise his grandchildren after the passing of his wife, Betty Joyce Adams. He was an extremely proud and committed patriot.
He is survived by his son, Douglas K. Adams of Charleston, SC; daughter, Cathy A. Evangelista (Steve) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Christina Evangelista, Matthew Evangelista, Luke S. Adams, and Grace B. Adams; and sister, Helen Rife.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joyce Adams; brother, Ronald Adams; and daughter-in-law, Krista S. Adams.
