MSgt. Richard C. Wiedenhoeft, 65, USAF, Retired, of North Charleston, SC, was at his home surrounded by his family when he went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 3, 2013. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 24, 1947, the only son of Dorothy C. and Charles H. Wiedenhoeft. He graduated from Hinsdale High School class of 66.
Richard enjoyed a career of 20 years in the United States Air Force serving as an Administrative Specialist, Recruiter and Air Transportation Supervisor. He continued his career of 22 years in Civil Service at Joint Base Charleston in the Commissary, Civil Engineering and Medical Group. Richard was a very active volunteer at the Charleston Animal Society (CAS). He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Summerville, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 42 1/2 years Barbara (nee Kemper) S. Wiedenhoeft, formerly of St. Louis, MO. He has two children, Chuck (Kristin) Wiedenhoeft of Charlotte, NC and Karen (Michael) Webb of Olathe, KS; two grandchildren, Zachary and Alexander Webb of Rich Hill, MO; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Wallace of Summerville, SC; and extended family members. He also leaves behind his beloved four-legged children, Lady Bug and Dixie Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. A Celebration of Richard's Life with military honors will be held at J.HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, followed by a reception. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
