Richard Charles Weston

November 23, 1935 — October 9, 2010

SCPO Richard Charles Weston, US Navy, Ret. 74, of Summerville, SC, husband of Metta Naomi Haynes Weston, died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at home.


Born November 23, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, he was one of 12 children of Thomas Horner Price Elin Weston and Clara Dager Weston.  He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy with 22 years of service.  He was employed at Nelson Printing for ten years and then Berlin G. Myers Lumber Yard for eight years after his retirement from the military.  He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter-day Saints.           


Mr. Weston is survived by his wife of 51 years, Metta N. Weston of Summerville, SC; children:  Toni Weston of Summerville, SC, Michael Richard Weston and his wife Cindy of Idaho, Richard Charles Weston II and his wife Stella of Summerville, SC and Naomi Rae Vasold and her husband, Ronald of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren:  Michael Richard Weston II, Andr� Ramon Jimenez, Crystal Gayle Weston and Christina Marie Vasold; siblings: Claire Kitcheman, Charles Weston, Jack Weston, Edward Weston and Doris Schiefer.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Craskey, Albert Weston, Joe Weston, Betty Haines, Bobby Weston and Thomas Weston.


The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM followed by full military honors.  The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Tuesday, October 12, 2010 between 7:00 and 9:00 PM.
