The Reverend Richard D. Thomson, 87, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of MaryLou Cocherell Thomson entered into eternal rest Monday, July 18, 2016. His Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 in St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 67 Anson Street at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Richard was born October 1, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of the late Dwight O. Thomson and Katheryn Kemerer Thomson. He was a graduate of CDSP, Berkeley and ordained in 1962 at the Diocese of Utah and served as Vicar in of St Paul's in Vernal Utah, for two years. Richard then served in Pacific Grove, CA, San Diego, CA, Tustin, CA and Covina, CA. He retired in 1992 and became the Vicar of St. James Santee in McClellanville, SC. Richard was also a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Charleston, SC.
He is survived by his loving wife, MaryLou; six children, Richard Gordon Thomson (Kathy), Michael Kemer Thomson (Aletha), Christopher Dwight Thomson (Debi), Jean Thomson Anderson (Don),Wendy Jill Puthuff (David) and Jeremy Ryan Breese; sisters, Barbara Nevin and Suzie Torgerson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by Susan Bates Thomson.
