Richard Carroll Sparkman, 92, of Cameron, SC, husband of Beatrice DeWitt Sparkman, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 21, 2015. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11 AM in Cameron Baptist Church in Cameron, SC. Richard was born October 9, 1922 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, son of the late Richard Vance Sparkman and the late Flossie Mae Parrish Sparkman. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Force. Richard was a retired vice president of Standard Life Insurance Company in Rock Hill, SC. He loved boating, automobiles, caring for his family, yardwork and attending art shows with his favorite artist and his wife, Beatrice. He attended North Carolina State University.
He is survived by three daughters: Carroll Lolli (Joe) of Edisto Island, SC, Donna London (Jim) of Clemson, SC, and Summer Johnson (Jim) of Orangeburg, SC; a son, Richard D. Sparkman (Diane) of Holly Springs, NC; and six grandchildren: Emily Sparkman, James London, Noelle London, Drew Johnson, Xan Johnson, and Autumn Sparks Johnson.
