Richard "Rich" Martin Grillo, aged 88, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Born on March 31, 1938, in the Bronx, New York, Rich was the beloved son of the late Martino Grillo and Carmela Barba Grillo.
Rich devoted a portion of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force, demonstrating his commitment and patriotism. Following his service, he worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Post Office in Santa Fe, California, a position through which he touched the lives of many within his community. Rich had a passion for tennis and cards, finding joy in these leisurely pursuits. He also greatly enjoyed dining out and traveling, embracing the opportunities to explore and connect with others.
Rich was united in marriage with Louise "Lou" Jenny Mase Grillo, who preceded him in death. The couple shared a bond that left an enduring legacy commemorated through their interment at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, where Rich will be laid to rest alongside Lou.
He is survived by his niece, Judy Grillo and her husband Scott of Manheim, Pennsylvania, as well as his sister, Evelyn Vazquez of Florida. These cherished family members continue the Grillo legacy with fond memories of Rich's warmth and companionship.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Martino and Carmela Grillo; his beloved wife, Louise "Lou" Jenny Mase Grillo; and his siblings: Mary Miller, Aldo Grillo, Olga Segadelli, Rosealda Rosario, and Lucille Proesti.
A Funeral Service to honor Richard "Rich" Martin Grillo’s life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 10:00 am at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. The service will be followed by his interment next to his late wife at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Fort Moultrie by mailing donations to Friends of Charleston National Parks, 40 East Bay St., Charleston, SC.
