Richard Lynn Race "Dicky", 84, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Saturday, April 14, 2018. His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Unity Church of Charleston, 2535 Leeds Avenue, Charleston, SC 29405 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Richard was born September 30, 1933 in Valley City, North Dakota, son of the late Gerald Reo Race and the late Vera Ellen Thompson Race Gerald. Working for many years at Dolphin Cove Marina, he was the Keeper of the Keys and took great pride in making sure he kept the place beautiful.

He is survived by three sisters, Marilyn Race Petix of Alabaster, Alabama, Cindy Gerald Weaks (Joe Kavanagh) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Diane Gerald Fleher (Clayton) of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Race and his sister Patricia H Tuttle.
