Richard Lee Petit, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Arlene Lillian Petit, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 9, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 9:00 am. 

Richard was born March 29, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Lee Woodrow Petit and Elizabeth Von der Lieth Petit.  He proudly served in the Army and retired as a pipefitter for The Charleston Naval Shipyard.

He is survived by his wife Arlene; her children: Caryl Randazzo (Christopher) of Daniel Island, SC, Cathryn Podd of San Diego, CA, Jay Knudsen (Beth) of Granville, OH, and James Knudsen (Katie) of South Hamilton, MA; and niece, Paige Mizell of Goose Creek, SC. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis DeFrancio Petit; and brother, Stephen Petit.
