Richard Clark Moore, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 27, 2025. His funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Richard was born December 1, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late William Griffith and Rosa Mae Conquest Griffith. Richard served eleven years in the United States Navy surviving the April 26, 1952 sinking of the USS Hobson. Post Military service, he worked in the maritime industry retiring as Captain of the Charleston Naval Shipyard Dredging Division. Always one to lead by example, he was a devoted family man and pillar of strength to all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Richard C. Moore, Jr. (Debra Grace) of Johns Island, SC, Kathy Gallagher (John) of Johns Island, SC, and Robin Moore Mitchell (Charlie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Richard Moore (Brittany), Mary Moore Cummings (Brian), Aubrey Pelton, Daniel Richard DeHaven, and Lauren Davis (Allen); great-grandchildren, Margot Rose Moore, Rory Marie Moore, and Allen Franklin Davis, Jr.; and sister, Betty Verschueren (Roy) of Port St. Lucie, FL.
In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his wife, Jenny L. Moore; and grandson, William Frederick DeHaven.
