Richard Leslie Mock, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Linda Bath Mock entered into eternal rest Friday, June 2, 2017. The family will receive friends Sunday June 4, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Monday June 5, 2017 in THOMAS C. STRICKLAND & SONS WEST CHATHAM CHAPEL, 901 Highway 80 West, Pooler, GA from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday June 6, 2017 in THOMAS C. STRICKLAND & SONS WEST CHATHAM CHAPEL, at 2:00 p.m. with burial following at FOREST LAWN MEMORY GARDENS in Savannah.

Richard was born March 29, 1947 in Savannah, Georgia, son of the late Grady C. Mock and Doris Flythe Mock. He was a 1965 graduate of Robert W. Groves High School. After high school, he served in the GA Air National Guard. This service led to his career with IBM. He retired in 2010 after 43 years as a Customer Engineer. He became an avid Clemson fan and loved tailgating with family and friends on Saturdays in the fall. He was particularly excited to see Clemson win the National Championship this year (Go Tigers)!

Richard was an active member of the Exchange Club of Charleston where he served in many capacities including President from 2012-2013. He was active with the Coastal Carolina Fair serving in leadership roles and as chairperson of the Creative Arts Building. He enjoyed working with the Salvation Army Bell Ringers through the Exchange Club. Richard most recently served as the president of the South Carolina District Exchange. He also served on the Board of Visitors at Charleston Southern University. Richard was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church for over 40 years previously serving as a deacon.

Over the years, Richard was very active in the schools within Charleston County. He served in many leadership positions and as President at local PTAs at Oakland Elementary, C.E. Williams Middle School and St. Andrew's High School. He also served in leadership positions including President within the District IX PTA and as Legislative Vice-President for SC State PTA. His dedication to education was also evident through his service on the Constituent District X and Charleston County School Boards. He was also involved in the West Ashley Jaycees where he served in various leadership roles.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Mock of Charleston, SC; daughter, Stacey Mock Hodgdon (Bob) of Richmond Hill, GA; son, Brian Mock (Jill) of Pooler, GA; grandchildren Abby and Connor Hodgdon, Ben and Grace Mock; sister, Norma Evans (Bob) of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Mary Mock of Rincon, GA; four nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws Ben and Annie Bath, his step-mother Eileen Mock, his brother Carl Heyward Mock, and two nephews.
