Richard Jefferson McQueen

Reverend Richard Jefferson McQueen, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Betty Sams McQueen entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 2, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held in Harbor Light Baptist Church, 1300 Fort Johnson Road, Saturday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, SC.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 10, 2014 in J.HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.Richard was born August 25, 1923 in Ellerbe, North Carolina, the son of the late Carl McQueen and Beulah Jenkins McQueen. He was a home Missionary for the Southern Baptist churches of Charleston for over 30 years and also the former Pastor of Shem Creek Baptist Church and of Harbor Light Baptist Church. A WWII Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Betty McQueen of Charleston, SC; son, Richard Eric McQueen of Charleston, SC; daughter, Lynn Harris of Ravenel, SC; grandson, Dustin Yager and several brothers and sisters.
