Richard (Dick) E. Masonis

Richard (Dick) E. Masonis, born in Baltimore, MD, lived a quiet and honorable life in Laurel, MD for 60 years, before moving to Mount Pleasant, SC in 1998.

Passing at the age of 90 on August 27, 2025, he is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Wade Masonis; son, Bill (Kathy); daughter, Patti; grandchildren, Alex (Stephany) and Elizabeth (Sydney); and great-grandchildren, Evan, Caitlin & Norah.

Dick retired from the US Postal service in Fort Meade, MD at the age of 50, after 30 years of service. He volunteered for numerous organizations including the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad. Dick was a member of the World Champion Team in 1968 and then was part of the first class to become EMT-A's in 1970. After moving to Mount Pleasant he volunteered at MUSC and the Seafarers Ministry of Charleston.

He stayed active in retirement, serving in the above mentioned organizations. Dick was a member of the Red Cross Gallon Club, by donating blood for many years. He also spent many happy hours in his yard and garden, with his golden retrievers Rusty, Duke and Bailey.

In 1986, Dick converted to the Catholic church, after attending mass for many years with his wife, Jean.

He is a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mount Pleasant, SC, where a memorial mass will be celebrated September 9, 2025 at 11:00am.
