Richard James Mabe, 82, of Moncks Corner, SC, husband of Luz Munich de Mabe died Sunday, August 31, 2014. His memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Springfield Baptist Church in High Point, North Carolina at 11:30am. Local arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Richard was born in Richmond County, NC, son of the late Rev. Richard Gilmer Mabe and the late Mamie Melissa Hughes Mabe. He enlisted in the Army and retired from the Navy having served more than 21 years. During his military career he was in the Vietnam War. He also worked for Flour Daniel Corporation.
He is survived by daughters: Melissa Mabe McClung of Moncks Corner, SC, Kristen Mabe White (fiancé, Timothy Murray) of St. Stephen and Renee Mabe Curtis (Darren) of Matthews, NC; and son, Richard Mabe Jr., of Goose Creek, SC; sisters, Barbara Brewer and Joann Ziglar both of Archdale, NC; brother, Jerry Mabe (Sonia) of Juan Diaz, Puerto Rico; seven grandchildren: Allen McClung (Michelle) of Grand Rapids, MI, Justin McClung (Kelly) of Summerville, SC, Caleb McClung of Moncks Corner, SC, Michael Curtis (Jennica) of Fort Mill, SC, Jessica Curtis, Jason Curtis both of Matthews, NC and Brandon White of Summerville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Bryce McClung. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Green.
