Richard "Dick" Dean Fairbanks, USAF (Ret.), 78, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Jeanette Theiling Fairbanks passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road. Interment will be held at a later date in Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 12:30 pm until the time of the service, as well as following the service.
Richard was born March 20, 1936 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of the late Roy and Pearl Fairbanks. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force where he faithfully served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He later worked with the Weapons Station in the Missile Assembly. Richard attended St. Matthews Lutheran Church, and loved square dancing with his wife, Jeanette. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, putt-putt, and just about any games.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra Ann Heitger of Pittsburgh, PA, Dianna Faye Fairbanks of North Charleston, SC, Linda (Robert) Jordan of Summerville, SC, Kathy (Loren) Wolfe of Ladson, SC, and Andrea Carol Jones of Summerville, SC; his son, Michael Callahan of North Charleston, SC; and his nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
