Richard “Rick” Frank Brewer, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kaye Morse Brewer, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The memorial service will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Rick was born February 25, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Woodie J. Brewer and Patricia Murray Brewer. He grew up in the Wando Woods neighborhood. He attended Garrett High School where he was the quarterback of the football team until injuries forced him to stop playing. He and Kaye were high school sweethearts. Though they went to different high schools they would marry in 1975. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on May 31, 2026.

Rick worked his way through college, paying his own tuition. He received a BS in Management from Charleston Southern University in 1976. He would later receive his MBA from Mercer University in 1992. While he was still in college he began working for GE Capital in various credit/collections leadership positions. He would later move up the ranks to work in various high-level management positions such as President for GE Capital’s credit card bank. After retiring he worked as a Chief Risk Officer consultant to GE Capital in Canada and Spain.

Rick and Kaye lived and worked in the Atlanta area for most of his career. During this time they had a son, Justin. Rick was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, and he, Kaye and Justin frequently would attend their games. He was also an ardent Gamecock fan. His favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing and traveling. One of his favorite things to do was to spend a day fishing off of the Folly Beach pier. He also enjoyed trips to the Cherokee/Gatlinburg area. Although a lifelong Gamecock fan, he enjoyed spending weekends in Clemson with his friends from GE Capital during football season.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye Morse Brewer; and son, Richard Justin Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodie J. Brewer and Patricia Murray Brewer; and three brothers, Michael Brewer, Robert Brewer and Keith Brewer.
