Richard McCall Bennett, 64, of Johns Island, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 4, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 10, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Richard was born October 15, 1951 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Caulie McCall Bennett, Jr., and Evelyn Marie Getsinger Bennett. He attended Baptist College and retired as Director of Procurement with the College of Charleston after 28 years of service. Following retirement, he became an officiant with Mobile Marriage of Charleston SC and was blessed to unite couples in marriage throughout the Charleston area for the past twelve years. Ric was known for his great laughter, generosity to all, was a civil war enthusiast and Gamecock fan.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Benton of Johns Island, SC; sister, Kathryn "Kathy" B. Hudson (Richard) of Hanahan, SC; two sister-in-laws, Adriana Carter (Scott) of Wadmalaw Island, SC, and Arlene Dean of Hollywood, SC; two brother-in-laws, Archie Benton (Nancy) of Weaverville, NC, and Audwin Benton (Ann) of Middleburg, Fl; two nieces, Tabbathie Smith-Darnell (Duane) of Hanahan, SC, and Kelly Mixon of St. George, SC; nephew, Christopher Newkirk (Karla) of Johns Island, SC; grandniece, Rebecca Paige Eagle (Karl Fipps, Jr.); three great-grandnieces, Emma, Leilani, and Abigail; five great-grandnephews, Zachary D, Wade, Andrew, Zachary and Jordan; special fur babies, Howie and Rebel.
