Rev. Ronald Ray Shearer, 77, born on November 22, 1948, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Charleston, SC.

Ron was a devoted husband to Jennifer Elkins Shearer, who he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, Matthew Ray and Mary Elizabeth, who were the pride of his life.

A dedicated servant of God, Ron spent four decades as the Minister of Education at Ashley River Baptist Church. His passion for teaching God's Word and his unwavering commitment to his calling left an indelible mark on countless lives. Before his long tenure at Ashley River Baptist Church, he began his career as a teacher in Lusaka, Zambia. Even after retirement, Ron continued to serve through mission work and cherished the opportunity to explore "Our Father's World."

Ron was a man of many passions. A country boy at heart, he enjoyed hunting and fishing but also embraced the beauty of the world through travel. He found joy in gardening and cultivated a collection of camellias that reflected his love for nature. Hiking with his daughter and enjoying food prepared by his son were among his favorite pastimes. Meals with extended family were always in his holiday plans.

Above all else, Ron will be remembered as a true servant-devoted to family, ministry, and those he counseled and mentored throughout his life. His legacy is one of faithfulness and love for others.

May Ron's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and inspire others to live lives that glorify God as he so faithfully did.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy. at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, prior to the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
