Reubin Gordon Hicks Jr.

Reubin Gordon Hicks Jr., 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Vera Rhodes Hicks, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 27, 2022. His graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in Summerville Cemetery, 1330 Boone Hill Road, Summerville, South Carolina at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Reubin was born June 29, 1938 in Mullins, South Carolina, son of the late Reubin Gordon Hicks Sr. and Mary Louise Coleman Hicks.  He was married to Vera Rhodes Hicks, the love of his life, for 28 years, until her passing in 1987. Reubin spent most of his life on Johns Island, working as an electrician for over 40 years. He was a huge Gamecock fan and loved watching old western tv shows. 

He is survived by his daughter, Shelby Hicks Walters (Robert) of Charleston, SC; a son, Reubin Gordon Hicks III of Chocowinity, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Bode (Adam) and  Bryan Walters (Megan); great-grandchildren, Judah, Ella, Levi, and Dain; a brother, Edward Daniel Hicks, Sr; and a sister, Alberta Hill. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Jessie Mae Clayton and a brother, Jimmy Hicks.
