Reggie Allen Strickland Sr., 84, of Charleston, SC, made his final journey to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Reggie was born on April 17, 1939 in Charleston County to Henry Louis Strickland and Edith Olive Knight. He is predeceased by his wife, Dereda Strickland; son, Reggie Allen Strickland Jr.; brothers, Henry and Bernard Strickland; sisters, Mary Eddins and Evelyn Maupin.
He is survived by his son, Shannon Strickland of Charleston; and Annette Willette whom he adored for her visits and companionship. His daughter, Veeann (George) Breaker of Ravenel; daughter-in-law, Laura Strickland; grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, and Russell Breaker, Jamie (Stephanie) Strickland, Misty Strickland, and Kevin (Megan) Mathes; great-grandchildren, Alana Breaker, Luna Mathes, Everly, Jacob Strickland; sister, Ann Housand of Charleston; sister-in-law, Alice Gillespie of Summerville; brother-in-law, Legrand (Rosemary) Hardee of Ravenel; and many nieces and nephews.
He attended Ravenel Baptist Church. Reggie worked full time until the age 82, 22 years with Charleston Sheet Metal, 18 years with his own welding and mechanic business, and retired from St. Johns Yacht Harbor. He was happily married for 57 years, spent 25 years stock car racing, and then several years after that racing go carts. He ran into those who knew him everywhere he went. He loved spending time with family and friends and had a special place in his heart for extended family, Yvonne Bullock, Betty Sanders, Patrick and Angelia Luke, Victor and Teresa Breaker. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
