Reba Barnes Griffin, 92, of Summerville, South Carolina, wife of James Maury Griffin entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment, 2:30pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum, 100 Cherokee Rd., Florence, SC. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Reba grew up on the family farm in Florence County during the depression, going to the one-room schoolhouse until the family moved to the city. Her mother dropped off a scared little country girl at the new big city school, and she not only survived, but thrived. Reba drove a convertible in the 50s, but since her father was the law, he knew where she was at all times. She married Jimmy, who she had known since they were little, and finally settled in Mount Pleasant. Reba was a stay-at-home mom, supporting her children in their studies, but still having time for herself, playing bridge with her girlfriends in Shemwood. As the years passed and she went to work, she was a bookkeeper who still balanced her checkbook after age 90, a real estate agent and was a customer service rep at SCE&G.

Reba had some mad negotiation skills. She never paid full retail for any big ticket item, even going to the manager and getting a reduced price for a fishing reel at the old Eckerds Drug Store. She loved to go on trips with Jimmy when he was alive, but even more so after he passed. She cruised to Alaska and the New England islands, flew to Las Vegas and Italy, and got to experience camping in Asheville.

Of course the apple of her eye was her granddaughter, Megan. She was always so proud of anything she did, and so thankful to be part of her life.

Reba was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, enjoying all the time with her other family and life-long friends, her Sunday School Class. She will be remembered for her kind words, her quick wit, and that she never forgot anything, good or bad.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie Usher (Braxton) of Summerville, SC; son, James Clyde Griffin of Lexington, SC; grandchild, Megan Elaine Griffin; and her brother, William C. Barnes (Melba) of Florence, SC; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Maury Griffin

Flowers will be accepted.

The family would like to give a special thanks to The Claiborne at Brickyard in Summerville and Wren Hospice for taking such good care of their mother.
