Raphael Regis Maher, 87, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Harriet Sloan Maher passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 4, 2014 in Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell, with Military Honors, will be at a later date. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Raphael was born September 4, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late Raphael R. Maher and Grace Elizabeth Conners Maher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a parishioner at Christ Our King Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Harriet Maher of Mount Pleasant; and his children, Marguerite Gray of Charleston, SC, Eileen Kronauer of Harvard, MA, Raphael R. Maher III of Charleston, SC, Rebecca Cilley of Saranac Lake, NY, Annamarie Maher of Sperryville, VA, and Patricia Orsagh of Marietta, GA; and his twelve grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marguerite Bryce of Pittsburgh, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212-1607 (www.sittlesistersofthepoorpittsburgh.org).
