Randy Alexander
Pomykacz
Feb 6, 1990 — Sep 4, 2026
Charleston, SC
With shattered hearts, we share the news of the sudden passing of our beloved Randy Pomykacz.
Randy grew up in Cape May, New Jersey, and later attended Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, Florida, where he graduated magna cum laude. He began his career in the food and beverage industry, working extensively in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Charleston, South Carolina. He eventually changed careers, discovering a talent and passion for fine craftsmanship. He became a skilled finish carpenter and craftsman, most recently specializing in fine custom cabinetry in Charleston.
Randy was one of the smartest, funniest, kindest, and most thoughtful people we were so incredibly blessed to have in our lives. He had a brilliant mind, a huge heart, and a presence that could fill a room.
He loved to cook and loved food in all its forms, from discovering the best local dive bar to enjoying an exceptional meal at a high-end restaurant. Endlessly curious, Randy was always reading, exploring a wide range of writers, subjects, and genres. He was a wonderful writer himself and loved great music, supporting local independent bands, watching comedians, and listening to podcasts that fed his insatiable curiosity. And, perhaps most of all, he loved simply being surrounded by the large circle of family and friends who adored him.
Randy was loved not only by his family, but by a whole tribe of friends and co-workers across New Jersey, Florida, New Orleans, and Charleston. His loss is being felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We are beyond broken. There are no words big enough for this loss. Randy’s life was far too short, but the love, laughter, memories, and adventures he gave us will remain with us forever.
Randy is survived by his mother, Michelle Snedaker; his grandmothers, Joan Pomykacz and Gerry Jensch; his siblings, Sarah Bowers, Eliana Ross, and Marcus Knight; his aunts, Alisha Owens (Thomas), Kim Snedaker (William), Debbie Alutis (Tony), and Sarah Pomykacz (Terri); and his uncles, Mark Pomykacz, Mike Pomykacz (Ronna), and Brian Pomykacz (Tiffany).
He was preceded in death by hisfather, Randy Pomykacz; his grandfathers, Bernard Pomykacz, Harry Snedaker, andOtto Jensch; and his grandmother, Barbara Snedaker Jensch.
