Ramses Nashid Shenouda passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. He was the eldest son of a prominent leader of Barclays Bank in Egypt.
Born in Egypt, Ramses began working in banking at the age of 14 under the guidance of his father, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong work ethic. After spending a brief period in Australia, he immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s, where he would ultimately build a remarkable life and career.
Ramses was a distinguished banker and one of the leading financial professionals of his generation. He dedicated 30 years to Chase Bank, retiring in 1995 as Senior Vice President under the leadership of John Fox. Throughout his career, he was known for his integrity, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional life, Ramses was deeply devoted to service, supporting numerous veterans’ causes as well as Armenian and Coptic monasteries.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Manoush. The two met in Cairo and later moved to New York, where they built a life together and raised their daughter, Mona. In 1996, they retired to Charleston, South Carolina.
Ramses is survived by his daughter, Mona; his grandson, Spencer (Heather); his great-grandson, Elijah; his younger brother, Lewis; and his younger sister, Viola.
Ramses Nashid Shenouda will be remembered for his lasting contributions to banking, his generosity to the community, and his unwavering faith. An immigrant who truly lived the American dream, he was a devoted family leader, a man of deep belief, and a source of strength and love to all who knew him.
Services will be held, Friday, January 30, 2026, at 10 am at J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel | 232 Calhoun Street Charleston, SC 29401.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ramses' memory to a local food bank.
