Ralph Carl Byers

Ralph Carl Byers, 86, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Mary Jeane Boyd Byers passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in the Rodenberg Chapel (Franke at Seaside), 1600 Franke Drive. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at Rodenberg Chapel (Franke at Seaside) on Wednesday morning, September 3, 2014 from 9:30 a.m.until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by J. Ralph was born February 12, 1928 in Great Falls, South Carolina, son of the late Earl G. Byers and Martha McPherson Byers. He attended Clemson University and during World War II, he served eighteen months in the U.S. Army as a medic aboard the hospital ship, USS Comfort, in the Pacific. Ralph had a long and successful career in the Textile Industry, serving in many executive positions. His first twenty years was with J. P. Stevens and Co., he then became Vice President of Bibb Mfg. Co. for a period of time. His last twenty years, he served as Vice President of a German Textile Equipment firm, American Suessen Corp. in Charlotte, NC. In his early years, he was active in many civic organizations, as well as an active participant in church activities. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Jeane Boyd Byers; his children, Anita Hill (Edwin) of Statesboro, GA, Sanford "Sandy" Byers of Charleston, SC, Fred "Tony" Anthony Byers (Dianne) of Isle of Palms, SC, and Daniel "Dan" Boyd Byers of Mount Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, Fred A. "Fred" Byers, II (Collins) of Charlotte, NC, Brooke Byers "Brooke" Neville (Josh) of Denver, CO, Samuel Bayne "Bayne" Hill (Julia) of Atlanta, GA and Ashley Hill of Mt. Pleasant, SC and his great-grandchildren, Addalyn and Lincoln Neville, and Everett Byers.
