Ralph Richard Bruhn, 93, of Moncks Corner, SC, husband of Velda Gray Phillips Bruhn died Sunday, February 22, 2015. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
Ralph was born April 4, 1921 in Paris, TN, son of the late Herman Bruhn and the late Ethel Roberson Bruhn. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII during the occupation of Japan. He retired as an estimator/planner from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and owned and operated Bruhn's Locksmith in Moncks Corner. He was on the board of directors with the Rural Fire Department in Moncks Corner and his faith was Church of Christ.
He is survived by wife of 71 years, Velda Bruhn; daughter, Susan Simmons (Doug) of Moncks Corner, SC; son, Steven Bruhn (Paulette) of Moncks Corner, SC; five grandchildren: Scott Pearson, Dana Mason, Michael Bruhn (Holly) all of Moncks Corner, Lorri Carlson (Chuck) of Champlin, MN, Cara St. Martin (Charlie) of Hugo, MN; thirteen great-grandchildren: Jessica Carlson, Stephen Russell, TJ Russell, Whitney Russell, Tyler Nichols, Spencer Gressen, Carolina Bruhn, Blake Gressen, Nora Bruhn, Scott Pearson II, Carol Gray Pearson, Hannah Bruhn, Cooper Bruhn. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Gillespie and Virginia Snow; brother, James Bruhn.
