Ralph Leonard "R.L" Benton, Sr., 71, of Round O, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, February 15, 2016. His memorial service will be held Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Lowcountry Freewill Baptist Church, 2720 Shadow Lane, North Charleston, SC 29406 at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.

R.L was born July 17, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Ralph Cornelius "RC" Benton and Bertha Freeman Benton. He was a self employed painter. He was a member of the Elks Club, enjoyed old cars and was a huge Nascar fan.

He is survived by his two sons, Leonard Ralph "Tyger" Benton, Jr. (Bamby) of St. George, SC and Mark Benton (Alicia) of Round O, SC; daughter, Susan Unger (Ward) of Ladson, SC; six sisters: Marie Richardson of Houston, TX, Susan Stewart and Nita Cumbee both of Moncks Corner, SC, Shannon Richardson,of Awendaw, SC, Charlene Alderman of Moncks Corner, Buddra "Lisa" Jackson of Houston, TX; brother, Rusty Henderson of Moncks Corner; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters Sandra Richardson and Rosa Lee Legare.
