Quinton Thompson Martin, Jr.

Col. Quinton T. "Mike" Thompson Martin, Jr., 91, of Hanahan, SC, husband of Leslie Johnson Martin passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 24, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 3:00 pm.  Interment will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.  

Mike, as he was known by friends, honorably served his country for 28 years in the U.S. Army.  As a civil servant he spent 9.5 years as the City Manager of Hanahan, SC and went on to serve another 3.5 years as the City Manager of North Charleston, SC prior to retiring.  Mike was born August 15, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of the late Quinton Thompson Martin Sr. and the late Madeleine Byrn Martin.    

Mike is survived by his wife, Leslie, of Hanahan; his four children: June Volstad (Steve) of Cary, NC, Quint Martin of Panama City Beach, FL, Kathy B. McElheney of Hanahan, SC and Kelly D. Martin of Nashville, TN; in addition to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
