Preston M. Burdell II, 80, of Sullivans Island, SC, entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 16, 2013. Funeral arrangements are private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mr. Burdell was born August 9, 1932 in Columbia, SC, son of Reuben Mazyck Burdell and Olive Temple Burdell. He graduated from the University of South Carolina, Class of 1957. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Lockheed, Marietta, GA after 35 years of service, where he was a member of the Management Club and the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Beckham Burdell; his daughter, Edith B. Mardany and her husband George; his three sons: Preston M. Burdell III and his wife Sherry, Douglas B. Burdell and his wife Anita and Arthur S. Burdell and his wife Sheri; his brother, Henry T. Burdell and his wife Rita; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
